Why is it people are always so eager to fall in love?

[Every time she's witnessed or been involved in love, it's just been a lot of pain for both parties.]

It's not stupid, per se, it's just driven by what is survival-oriented instead of what is about protecting yourself emotionally. Those are instincts that are more about food than feelings. In fact, one could theorize humans developed those feelings to promote more pair bonding.

I've never had so much as a one night stand, though, so I can only speculate.

And through the centuries all it's done is cause varying degrees of pain. Cheating and death, ripping your heart out when they leave. You don't exactly need a lasting partner to be able to have children if that's what you want. Hell, my sister does just fine with just her and her girls.

Oh, you should give it a try. It's thrilling in all the right ways.
