Enjoy the fact that the world isn't ending right now? Visit a park? Play cards? Go out for dinner? Wait around because it'll probably need saving again really soon?
Seriously? Wow, okay that sounds pretty awesome for one thing. That you beat them I mean, not that they were there in the first place.
But it sounds to me like there's tons of things that you could do. Like there must be a lot to repair and rebuild, right? And sure, maybe that seems like a lot and maybe people don't always know where to get started with it all, but an extra pair of hands is always appreciated.
And if you're worried about them maybe coming back, you can probably find things to do to keep an eye on the portal? Maybe find out if there's a chance that another one could happen or something.
You sure? Because it's actually not that weird for people to feel like they miss something like that, especially if it's been their whole life. And you did say that had been going on for a really long time, right?
I mean, it must be kinda scary, like your whole life has to be different now. People don't adapt to that kind of thing easily.
[He shrugs and smiles a bit sadly, understanding a little of where she's coming from. It's hard to imagine what his life would be like if suddenly no one needed the League anymore.]
I suppose I'd have to ask myself what I wanted to do with my life now. Maybe I could start over with something new, or use what I learned somewhere else. Maybe instead of fighting to save the world, you can help to keep it safe from smaller problems.
It's not going to be easy or perfect, but maybe it's worth it if it means that the world is going to be better from now on.
Well. Because in an alternate universe, where the apocalypse wasn't canceled, there are no other options.
Which is not to say that I'd be wearing heels every day even if our own apocalypse had been stopped, but the luxury of sometimes being impractical is not to be underrated, I think.
Oh — one of many, yes. But where I am from, we have been having an apocalypse for about twenty years, so...those are just a tiny number of things I'd do if we weren't.
[ this is more a war of manipulation and slight of hand; their enemies are not easily made visible. that's why the world's least appropriate person for espionage here is now a spy, technically. ]
Certain parts of it were inevitable, anyway. Empires tend to fall.
Okay, question. Does it count as an apocalypse if the world doesn't actually end. Because then isn't it just like... some really unfortunate-ass circumstances.
But it would have been an apocalypse if it had happened. Does the word not refer to the concept of world destruction itself? It does not have to have happened.
I don't know, I always figured it meant more like, the actual act of the world ending rather than just some shit that very nearly happened and then was averted at the last minute by probably some guys in spandex or a really big gun or whatever.
We saved the world from destruction. We saved it from the apocalypse. Do you suggest a different word for an apocalypse that has not happened? Would that not prove the term apocalypse by including it within that definition?

Or at least, that's my list when that happens.

How long do you usually wait?

We no longer have to fight but there is nothing to do.

And our scientists assure us that they are keeping an eye on everything. [ somewhat unconvincingly. ] We are happy.

[Because yeah, it sounds like that's not the case for her at least. He's starting to get an idea about what this is really about now.]

Why, is an apocalypse a frequent thing where you're from, because. Like, you'd think they'd lose their urgency after the first ten times.
